Among the communities making up the western area of Greater Fort Lauderdale is Sunrise. Sunrise Musical Theater seats 4,000 people for its presentations of Broadway musicals, plays, and concerts by well known singers.

Markham Park offers 665 acres of wooded camping and nature trails. Also an observatory, swimming pool, and bicycle and boat rentals.
